Over the weekend, we saw various attempts at marketing during the coronavirus pandemic. We saw a handful of creative, relevant marketing tactics. However, we saw more terrible, salesy, tacky tactics, causing us to really talk through the messaging that is appropriate for us as a marketing company. More importantly, what is appropriate for our clients who, for the most part, are in professional services.
We are not going to email you to tell you to wash your hands and increase social distancing. Your bank and favorite chain coffee shop have already done that. We are also not going to offer you a free roll of toilet paper if you hire us (mainly because we don’t have any extra to bribe you with).
We will recommend that you get in touch with your clients. While it seems like everyone’s main focus these days is the coronavirus – life outside still goes on. Let your clients know you are there for them and how they can get in touch with you. Also, assure them that you are monitoring changing circumstances. And as such, you will adapt to meet client needs.
Be kind to yourself and to your clients. These are trying times with heightened anxiety levels and this ever-changing situation is affecting everyone differently. Your clients already assume you are a good lawyer, accountant, financial planner, professional. Now is the time to show them you are a decent human being and that you are not tone-deaf to their concerns. Marketing during the coronavirus pandemic is different, as is everything else in our lives for the time being.
Be well,
Your team at ESQuisite
