Tom Smykowski: Well, look, I already told you! I deal with the goddamn customers so the engineers don’t have to! I have people skills! I am good at dealing with people! Can’t you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?!
One of the most “work" relatable movies out there is Office Space… and one of my favorite scenes is when Tom is being interviewed by “the Bobs" because I think most people would answer their question with the same honest frustration as Tom.
So, what do I do here at ESQuisite? I’ll tell you! I make stuff happen! I am a problem solver, a do-er, and one of the most organized people you’ll ever meet. Growing up I thought I wanted to be a lawyer. I studied criminal justice, political science and sociology in college. I took my LSATs, and decided to go work for a lawyer before I incurred an obscene amount of student loan debt on law school. And thank goodness I did. Because you people NEED me – I couldn’t become one of you! I have told almost every lawyer that I have worked with (close to 200 at this point) this story – and most of them agree that I am an asset to their practice.
Since graduating college, I’ve only worked in law firms (ranging from a two-attorney Main Street firm to a 140+ attorney regional firm) – as a legal assistant, paralegal, office manager, in the accounting department, and for the last 9 years, in legal marketing.
What does all of this mean for my clients? It means that I know about the legal world – and not just how to market you. I work to get to know each client – their personality and their practice – what makes them comfortable, and how they define their success. I outline a strategy to fit each individual attorney (marketing, just like most everything in life, is not one-size-fits-all), and work closely with them to take the necessary steps to achieve their goals. I’ve been called a nudge – but I am happiest when I show super busy people why and how to best invest their valuable time to get results.
I am a master of time management – I fit everything that is important to me in each day – from spending time with my kiddos together and one-on-one, getting to the gym, doing food prep, getting involved in my favorite charity – the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, oh yeah – and running a business, servicing clients, and doing all the things I tell my clients to do. Why does this matter? Because I can be your “Professional Nudge” and help you figure out what is most important to your career, and how to fit it into your already busy day.
